Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Ontario Mining Rescue Academy

It was an honour to participate in yesterday’s groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming Ontario Mine Rescue Academy in Greater Sudbury. For nearly a century, Ontario Mine Rescue has been serving our Community, keeping hard working Northern Ontarians safe on the job.

I was pleased to be joined by local indigenous and community leaders to mark this new chapter of innovation in our storied mining industry. As the mining sector evolves with new technology and growing demand for minerals, it is important now more than ever to increase our commitment to safety and expand opportunities for the next generation of workers in the sector.

Thank you to Ontario Mine Rescue and all who came together to make this happen. I will continue to keep the mining industry top of mind as I raise the interests of Northern Ontarians in Ottawa.

Ce fut un honneur d’assister hier à la cérémonie de première pelletée de terre pour la future Académie de sauvetage minier de l’Ontario à Grand Sudbury. Depuis près d’un siècle, Sauvetage minier Ontario sert notre communauté en veillant à la sécurité des travailleurs nord ontariens sur le terrain.

J’ai été heureux de me joindre aux leaders autochtones et communautaires de la région pour marquer ce nouveau chapitre d’innovation dans notre industrie minière bien ancrée. Alors que le secteur minier évolue avec les nouvelles technologies et une demande croissante pour les minéraux, il est plus important que jamais de renforcer notre engagement envers la sécurité et d’élargir les possibilités pour la prochaine génération de travailleurs.

Merci à Sauvetage minier Ontario ainsi qu’à toutes les personnes qui ont contribué à la réalisation de ce projet. Je continuerai de garder l’industrie minière au premier plan en défendant les intérêts des Nord Ontariens à Ottawa.
