42nd annual Workers’ Memorial Day in Greater Sudbury

Today was the 42nd annual Workers’ Memorial Day in Greater Sudbury, which marks the mining tragedy in Falconbridge in 1984.

Mine Mill Local 598/Unifor hosted a beautiful ceremony honouring the memory of workers who have lost their lives or been injured on the job.

Today we remember those workers who didn’t come home to their families and use it as a reminder that we all must strive to create safe workplaces for all.

Thanks to Eric Boulay, president of Unifor Mine Mill Local 598 for the invite to this memorial service today.

Aujourd’hui avait lieu la 42e Journée commémorative des travailleurs dans le Grand Sudbury, en souvenir de la tragédie minière de Falconbridge survenue en 1984.

La section locale 598 de la section locale 598 d’Unifor a organisé une belle cérémonie en hommage aux travailleurs décédés ou blessés au travail.

Aujourd’hui, nous nous souvenons de ces travailleurs qui ne sont jamais rentrés chez eux et nous nous rappelons qu’il est de notre devoir à tous de créer des milieux de travail sécuritaires pour tous.
